DHV-Groundhandling Seminar – The 8th
The
autumn at the Wasserkuppe in the middle of Germany can be foggy and
wet. This was the fact at the last training in the Rhön
and in this way the 8th Groundhandling Seminar for Clubtrainer started
too. But the bad weather could not stop anyone to unpack his glider.
They all were curious to learn Mike Küng’s special technique
and tricks for perfect gliderhandling in strong wind conditions.
Without
getting tired the groundhandlers were running on
the soft meadows and hills of the Wasserkuppe. The arms in paralell
position the students started thier gliders, stabilized it, ran diagonal,
made small jumps. Sudorific, but also funny. As the
paragliders got more and more wet, it was very hard to lift them up
in the air and you needed very sensitive fingers, because the travel
ranges got very short.
On
Sunday Heaven’s weather specialist took compassion
on the pilots and sent some sunrays. Playing in the wind the participants
could consolidate their skills. Now in the sun as a „dry version“.
In a competition including running up and down the hills, through
windward and tricky lee, the pilots could compare their ability. Finally
there was the legendary „Somersault Contest“.
In
the afternoon all students packed their equipment completely
exhausted. „In the future I will never again do jogging.
That is boring in any case. Groundhandling is the much more brilliant
training!“ one of the pilots said. He is right! An
it is possible in nearly every weather conditions.
„Servus! See you next year!“
