Head
Over from the Europe Bridge
An icy northwind is blowing in Mikes face. The grate under his feet
is vibrating. Only some metres above his head the trucks are driving
with a thundering noise towards Italy.
MadMikeKüng
stands wirh his grapped paraglider at the bungee
plattform of the Europebridge. In some minutes he will jump
head over into the deepness. There are only 170 metres
between Mike and the snowy ground of the Sill Canyon.
Carefully he lets the glider
slide down. Paying attention that nothing get caught at all the edges
and beams. But different to the drops from balloons or from the Zugspitz
cable car the glider is not leisurely drangling. A gust of wind blows
into the paraglider. The cells inflate, the glider wants to fly. Is
dragging at the stretched lines.
Mike
is totally concentrated. He needs all his power to be not
pulled down from the plattform. The wind calms down, the glider deflates.
Until the next gust is coming. The glider twists around, hooks into
the steel frame. Mike has to unfix the risers, to rearrange the glider,
to fix the risers again. “At the next unturbulent moment I will
jump!” he shout to the camera team. At this difficult weather
conditions the danger to fall into the canopy is extremely big.
The
wind calms down. “Ready, set, go!” With a stout-hearted
jump Mike launches from Europe`s 2. highest bridge, he makes a somersault
in the air. The paraglider turns around. But the stabilo is hooked
somewhere. The canopy deforms, is flying backwards. Mike is braking
hardly for a short moment. The glider shoots forwards, before it goes
in the normal flight position.
The
team and the spectators breathe a sigh of relief. Some seconds later
Mike lands with a big smile in his face at the Valley ground.

"After
the high altitude record this was the most dangerous story I`ve
ever done!” Mike sums up after the landing. “It`s
an appeal to me to fathom what is possible. And the ceiling wage
is the gladness about a succeeded story!”
